Happy Fourth of July to all our fellow Americans! It's a beautiful day, and we're grateful after the rain we received yesterday. So get outside, do a little grilling, spend time with family and enjoy the fireworks tonight, where ever you may be!

On a comics-related note, we tweeted a few days ago about Byron Brewer over at Cosmic Book News's review of the new issue of JACK HAMMER: POLITICAL SCIENCE and just realized we neglected to add it to the site! Oops!

So if you want to read for yourself what Byron thought, go here and check it out.

The money quote: "If you like your comics action clever, tough and back-alley, the world of Jack Hammer is for you."

Thanks for the kind words Byron, and thanks for the support to everyone at CBN!

Happy holiday!

The first reviews of JACK HAMMER: POLITICAL SCIENCE #3 are in!

First, Michael Roberts's review over at his pop culture blog. Check out what he had to say for yourself athttp://mwr.me/2011/06/28/comic-book-review-jack-hammer-issue-3/. Michael is a Jack Hammer fan and a friend to us from the very beginning and we appreciate his kind words!

Geoff Arbuckle, over at A Comic Book Blog, gave the book "85% out of 100" and you can read his thoughts here http://acomicbookblog.com/2011/06/jack-hammer-political-science-3-review/.

The money quote from Geoff:

"I’ve liked this series from the start.  Writer Brandon Barrows added the right amounts of intrigue with some nice thrills.  I legitimately care that the good guys get to the bottom of this issue.  I am legitimately invested to see how this ends.  It’s no small thing to do this in an indie comic."

Thanks a ton, Geoff! Brandon and Ionic have worked very hard on this series and we're all excited to read the conclusion later this summer!

And don't forget, you can get your own copy of JACK HAMMER: POLITICAL SCIENCE #3 tomorrow, either in our online store or in select comic shops!

It's almost here! Jack Hammer: Political Science #3, by Brandon Barrows and Ionic, is out June 29th!

We know you've been waiting eagerly and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your patience. We've gotten a number of letters since issue two came out and we want you all to know how much we appreciate it. We've picked a few of those letters and issue three will have our first ever letters page with your thoughts/questions/comments and Brandon's answers.

In issue three: Jack has a pretty good idea of what's going on, but still no "why" to make things worse, there's the added complication of Kara Newman's kidnapping. When he finally confronts the puppeteer, will Jack find the answers or just new questions?

Check out the amazing cover, featuring Night, by Ionic!

Hi, everybody, just a short update today.

Submissions have been closed for our new sci-fi anthology SCIENCE! We have five great stories, totaling nearly fifty pages, of science fiction that we are very pleased with. We're tentatively scheduling the book for an August release, but we'll firm that up shortly.

If you'd like to submit a short story to us, we're always looking at submissions for our regular anthology so feel free to check out the submissions page and send us your best stuff.

A new review of JACK HAMMER: POLITICAL SCIENCE #1 by a reader who just discovered us was recently published, as well. You can check out what John Lees had to say about the book for yourself by going here. From the sound of things, though, it seems like he's a new fan! Thank you for the kind words, John and we're happy you enjoyed the book.

Two updates in one day? Yessir, that's right!

Just in, a review of Jack Hammer: Political Science #1 by new fan Shaun Daniels over at www.horrorhaven.com. Shaun discovered Jack Hammer at Boston Comic Con this weekend, and it sounds like he's glad he did! You can read his brief review of the first issue here http://horrorhavenreviews.wordpress.com/2011/05/04/boston-comic-con-2011-indie-spotlight/. Thanks for the kind words, Shaun!

And, for those who've been asking about it, a print of the cover of Reasonably Priced Comics #2 is now available! Ionic's gorgeous painting of Dean Kirkland exploring the jungles of the 31st century is now available as a high quality print. You can check the link to our store or go directly to it here http://indyplanet.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=5316.

Afternoon, folks!

This past weekend was a big one if you're a comics fan in the Northeast. Boston Comic Con drew a record 6,000 people over Saturday and Sunday our own Brandon Barrows shook hands with about a third of them!

Brandon reports that the con was lively and fans seemed to enjoy artists' alley and the independents' tables as much as those of the well-known creators. He also reported selling out of the first issue of Jack Hammer and moving healthy numbers of the second issue as well as both issues of Reasonably Priced Comics!

Matt "Doc" Martin, co-host of the Retcon Radio podcast (along with Martin Brandt, writer of Laces), interviewed Brandon at the convention and they talked about Jack Hammer, our anthology and other things. Check it out here! http://www.bonus-level.com/2011/05/04/retcon-radio-7-independents-day/

RPC creators are heading to more cons this month, as well, with Brandon appearing at Granite Con 2011 in Manchester, NH on May 15th and Chuwei appearing at FanimeCon 2011 in San Jose, CA the 27th through the 30th. Go out and meet 'em! They'll be happy you did.

Last for today, our new anthology SCIENCE! is shaping up nicely but we still have room for 16-20 pages' worth of comics. We are planning the book to be about 48 pages and we'd love to have you participate. You can go to this blog post for the full details http://www.reasonablypricedcomics.com/1/post/2011/04/new-anthology-in-the-works.html and please remember, all submissions must be accompanied by the signed release form on our submissions page.

Happy comic book day, everyone!

Folks were getting all excited watching the Oscars last night, but not us. No time! (Or interest, but I digress.) It's an exciting week for us, as we're sending Reasonably Priced Comics #2 to the printers this week.

RPC #2 features the second installment of VOYAGA by Brandon Barrows (writer of our critically-acclaimed and award-nominated series JACK HAMMER) and new series artist Ionic (artist on JACK HAMMER and cover artist for all our publications to date); MY WAY, a sci-fi story about alien gangsters and the pay day of a lifetime by Alex De-Gruchy and Robert Durham (writer/artist of several CAVEWOMAN one-shots, among other things); and THE COMMUNICATORS, a decades and generation-spanning slice-of-life with a twist story by newcomers Michael E. Nichols and Joshua Calloway. We're very pleased with the issue and we know you will be, too! The scheduled release date is April 6th, so check back here for availability or ask your local comic shop to order it for you.

We're also working on RPC #3, which features the third installment of VOYAGA; a brand new KIDTHULHU short by RPC alumnus Martin Brandt (DEAD FUTURE, STITCHWORK) and Jason Stephens; and a brand new series set in the post-Civil War American West called WESTERN ADDITION by Brandon Barrows and artist Leandro Paganiban (ANIMAL CONTROL: SPECIAL CREATURES UNIT). Right now, we're looking at a mid-to-late June release but we'll keep you updated when we've set the final date.

We're also beginning to put together RPC #4. So far, it contains the fourth installment of VOYAGA, closing out book one, but we're still looking at submissions to fill out the rest of the issue. We've gotten several great submission pieces in the last couple weeks, but don't hesitate to send yours in if you've got a story you'd like us to consider. Please refer to the submissions page for details on how.

Have a great week folks! We will be!

Hey, folks. Quick update here.

Brandon Barrows, writer of JACK HAMMER and VOYAGA, has been busy lately and folks have been noticing! He did a couple interviews recently, answering some questions for folks about his current work and spilling a little news about some upcoming projects (some for us, some with our esteemed colleagues at other publishers).

Check 'em out for yourself; it's some interesting reading.
