Welp, we alluded to it earlier in the week and now we're making the announcement official: we're at work putting together a brand new title.

The new book will, for now, be a one-shot to test the waters for this type of thing, but we're hoping to make it the first in a series.

The book is entitled "Science! Tales from the Edge of Human Knowledge" and is an anthology, though, unlike our other anthology, this one is a theme book. As you can guess from the title, it's a science fiction book and theme is "things going wrong while trying to expand the boundaries of human knowledge".

And, since you asked, yes we are looking for submissions! We'd like to have at least four to five stories for this book and currently have accepted one for inclusion, so we're looking for at least three more. Depending on the quantity and quality of submissions, we may accept more as we haven't nailed down the page count for the title yet.

So, please, send us your stories for consideration! Stories must be at least 4 pages in length and preferably no more than 10, but we'll look at each story on a case by case basis. And remember, this is a theme anthology. Stories must be science fiction and fall under the category of scientific or academic pursuits going awry. Experiments gone horribly wrong? Absolutely! Interdimensional travel mishaps? Quite possibly! Space opera? Superheroes? Nope, sorry. You get the idea and the limit is your imagination.

All submissions must conform to the guidelines on our submissions page and please remember to include a completed submission form, as we cannot look at any submissions without it.

It's still a few months off, but we're so excited we had to share!

Pages for the strips scheduled to run in Reasonably Priced Comics #3 have been coming in and we thought you folks would enjoy a little sneak preview of two brand new series debuting in the issue.

Below is a low-res, unlettered page from KIDTHULHU (by Martin Brandt and Jason Stephens).

And a low-res, unlettered page from WESTERN ADDITION (by Brandon Barrows and Leandro Paganiban)

Enjoy! And remember, RPC #3 will be in the very early summer!

Folks were getting all excited watching the Oscars last night, but not us. No time! (Or interest, but I digress.) It's an exciting week for us, as we're sending Reasonably Priced Comics #2 to the printers this week.

RPC #2 features the second installment of VOYAGA by Brandon Barrows (writer of our critically-acclaimed and award-nominated series JACK HAMMER) and new series artist Ionic (artist on JACK HAMMER and cover artist for all our publications to date); MY WAY, a sci-fi story about alien gangsters and the pay day of a lifetime by Alex De-Gruchy and Robert Durham (writer/artist of several CAVEWOMAN one-shots, among other things); and THE COMMUNICATORS, a decades and generation-spanning slice-of-life with a twist story by newcomers Michael E. Nichols and Joshua Calloway. We're very pleased with the issue and we know you will be, too! The scheduled release date is April 6th, so check back here for availability or ask your local comic shop to order it for you.

We're also working on RPC #3, which features the third installment of VOYAGA; a brand new KIDTHULHU short by RPC alumnus Martin Brandt (DEAD FUTURE, STITCHWORK) and Jason Stephens; and a brand new series set in the post-Civil War American West called WESTERN ADDITION by Brandon Barrows and artist Leandro Paganiban (ANIMAL CONTROL: SPECIAL CREATURES UNIT). Right now, we're looking at a mid-to-late June release but we'll keep you updated when we've set the final date.

We're also beginning to put together RPC #4. So far, it contains the fourth installment of VOYAGA, closing out book one, but we're still looking at submissions to fill out the rest of the issue. We've gotten several great submission pieces in the last couple weeks, but don't hesitate to send yours in if you've got a story you'd like us to consider. Please refer to the submissions page for details on how.

Have a great week folks! We will be!

In preparation for some covers coming down the line Ionic, the extremely talented artist on JACK HAMMER, created this incredible Voyaga pin up! And this is just the rough version! We can't wait to see the finalized piece!

Jack Hammer: Political Science, our flagship title, has been nominated for "Best Rookie Title" in the Project FanBoy Awards!  This is a great honor, but we need your help.

Please go to http://awards.projectfanboy.com/?pageid=pfaabout sign up (if the site requires you to do so) and cast your vote. There are a lot of great books and a lot of talented creators nominated this year (as every year, we're sure!) and we need your help to win!

Remember, every vote counts and we're counting on you!

Just a quick update to close out the weekend.

A Comic Blog reviewed the first issue of Reasonably Priced Comics and Mr. Geoff Arbuckle, without any doubt, loved it! You can read the review for yourself at http://acomicbookblog.com/comic-book-reviews/reasonably-priced-comics-1-review/ but the money quotes are below:

On Voyaga "The story is emotional and gripping.  I literally was sad when I reached the final frame and couldn’t get more of this story...Voyaga has a chance to be an instant classic"

On Chu's World "Chu’s World is a cute and endearing strip.  It’s almost like the anti-Scott Pilgrim."

On Laces "Laces was totally unexpected and very well written and drawn"

On the book as a whole "After reading the whole anthology from start to finish, I sat back and thought “Wow”."

You can get a copy for yourself in our store and by all means, drop us a line and let us know what YOU think. We really do want to hear it!

As always....stay tuned, there's more to come!

First up, Kitty's Pryde reviewed Reasonably Priced Comics #1 today. Go check it out! http://www.kittyspryde.com/?p=5807 And once again, thanks for the support KP. We really appreciate it!

Next, Reasonably Priced Comics #2. The issue is finalized in terms of content. In addition to the second installment of Voyaga from Brandon Barrows and Rudolf Montemayor, we have a sci-fi tale from the British team of Alex De-Gruchy and Richard Durham featuring alien gangsters and lounge singers and an eerie slice of life story by Mike Nichols and RPC #1 vetern Silvina Rinaldi. The current scheduled release date for the book is April 6th, 2011.

In other anthology news, the story line-up for Reasonably Priced Comics #3 has also been finalized. Along with the penultimate chapter of the first Voyaga storyarc, we'll have a brand new Kidthulhu story by Martin Brandt II, another RPC #1 alumnus, and Jason Stephens. As things stand, we're looking at a July 2011 release. Check back often for more details!

Lastly, a note on submissions. If you are interested in submitting material for a future issue of Reasonably Priced Comics, please make sure you follow the guidelines on our submissions page. Please do NOT send us a message via our twitter account regarding submissions and please do not send us any submissions without the accompanying release form. We cannot look at any submissions that are not accompanied by this document for both your protection and our own.

That being said, have a great weekend everyone and as always feel free to drop us a line any time with questions/comments/suggestions on any of our titles.
